COVID-19: At least 10 people dead after fire at coronavirus hospital in India

 

At least 10 people are dead after a fire in a building that housed a private hospital treating coronavirus patients in India. More than 70 patients were also evacuated from Sunrise Hospital in the Indian city of Mumbai on Friday as crews from 20 fire engines struggled to contain the blaze. Seven of the patients were on ventilators and all survivors were moved to other hospitals, according to The Times of India. COVID-19: Vaccinated people should be able to meet up and go on holidays, says scientist

 

A scientist has called for vaccinated people to be allowed to meet up with each other and to travel freely, saying there is no scientific reason why this should be forbidden. Professor Tim Spector, who leads the COVID Symptom Tracker app study run by King's College London, said the vaccination programme was successful and now people's mental health needs to be considered. COVID-19: Germany extends lockdown as infection rates almost double in three weeks

 

Germany's lockdown restrictions have been extended for almost another month as the country faces a rising rate of coronavirus infections. Chancellor Angela Merkel said restrictions previously due to end on 28 March will now remain in place until 18 April. COVID-19: Prince of Wales to lead country in national day of reflection on first anniversary of UK lockdown

 

Prince Charles will say he is inspired, humbled, and moved by the sacrifices seen in the past year, as part of tomorrow's day of national reflection. 23 March is the anniversary of the first UK lockdown. The Prince of Wales is urging Britons, "whatever their faith or philosophy," to pause on Tuesday in remembrance of those who have died during the crisis in the past year. A minute's silence will be held at 12pm, followed by a bell toll, and people are being encouraged to stand on their doorsteps at 8pm with phones, candles and torches to signify a "beacon of remembrance". Glastonbury organisers hope to stage concert at Worthy Farm in September after festival axed for second year in a row

 

Proposals have been submitted for a concert at the Glastonbury festival site this autumn. The news comes after it was announced in January that the festival had been cancelled for a second year in a row because of the coronavirus pandemic.
